Karen Cooper, having been bitten by one of the ghouls during a previous attack, is introduced as the daughter of Helen and Harry Cooper. Karen’s worsening condition keeps her in the basement. Eventually, after the malcontented Harry Cooper is gunned down by Ben, Helen finds Karen feeding on the remains of her father, and realizes that Karen has transformed into a zombie. Helen looks on in horror, scarcely resisting even as Karen grasps the trowel and launches a bloody attack.
