With her innocent face and schoolgirl uniform, Darla was the first female vamp to appear on Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the episode, "Welcome to the Hellmouth." Together with a teenage boy, they roamed through the halls of Sunnydale High after dark. Looking every bit the typical, helpless girl in jeopardy, she quickly spun that stereotype and shattered all expectations by transforming into her vampire 'game' face and killing her unwitting companion. Illustrating from the very beginning, if there is one truth about Darla, it's to never assume anything about this alluring monster. Always a study in contrasts, this beautiful, petite blonde harbors the un-beating heart of a truly gifted killer.
Turned into a vampire in 1607 by The Master, Darla earned her reputation as one of the strongest members of the infamously brutal Aurelius vampire line. She sired Angelus to be her lover and companion in 1753 and together they loosed their particularly sadistic brand of torture and evil across Europe for more than a century. They parted ways when Angelus regained his soul, and Darla then returned to serve The Master. The former lovers met again in 1997 on the Hellmouth in Sunnydale, where Darla and The Master's minions worked to free their leader from his mystical captivity under the town. She attempted to lure Angel back to his wicked ways, but her power over him was long diminished, and Angel ended up dusting his sire to protect his new love - Buffy Summers, The Slayer. Yet Darla's story was far from over, and she was resurrected years later to fulfill a prophecy that intertwined with Angel's destiny once more.
