The Golden Age of Comics gave us many eye popping characters, but perhaps none burned readers retinas as much as the Blazing Skull (Real name: Mark Anthony Todd). The Blazing Skull´s fiery first foray was in Mystic Comics #5 (March 1941). In this flaming four-color fantasy, the sroy is told of Todd´s transformation from peace loving reporter to combustible crusader. After journeying to Japan an assignment from his paper, Todd encountered a secret race known as Skull Men. These mysterious beings took Todd in and imparted to him their secrets. After a period of intense training, Todd gained several supernatural abilities such as immunity of fire, superhuman strength, an accelerated healing factor, the ability to create and project flame, and the bizarre ability to make his skin invisible (while leaving his skeleton visible).
