Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter was spun off into space, allowing Luke to fire his proton torpedo, just as the Death Star moved into range to destroy the Rebel base on the 4th moon of Yavin. The torpedo set off a explosive chain-reaction, which destroyed the Imperial super-weapon, and won the day for the Rebel Alliance.
In a grand ceremony, Princess Leia presented the Medal of Yavin to Luke Skwalker and Han Solo, the heroes of the Batle of Yavin.
