07.01.2025 • GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS
The 82nd Golden Globe Awards took place on January 5, 2025 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

One of the big winners of the evening was the 10-time nominated film EMILIA PÉREZ, which ultimately took home 4 awards in the comedy/musical category. It won the award for Best Motion Picture as well as Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language. Zoe Saldaña was named Best Supporting Actress and EL MAL won the award for Best Original Song.

In the drama category THE BRUTALIST was the favorite with its 7 nominations and was awarded three Golden Globes: Best Motion Picture, Best Director for Brady Corbet and Best Actor for Adrien Brody.

The film doesn't open here until the end of January, and we haven't seen EMILIA PÉREZ yet either. Our S.P.A.C.E favorites for the best films were: DUNE: PART TWO, which left empty-handed; CONCLAVE, which at least won for the best screenplay (Peter Straughan) and last but not least THE SUBSTANCE. That's why we were particularly happy for Demi Moore, who was awarded the Golden Globe for her role in the film. It was the first major award of her long career and she expressed her gratitude in a very emotional speech.

Sebastian Stan was nominated twice for THE APPRENTICE – THE TRUMP STORY and for A DIFFERENT MAN, for which he won the acting award. The Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres won for Best Actress – Drama in I'M STILL HERE (Ainda estou aqui) against such well-known stars as Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton, Pamela Anderson and Kate Winslet.

In the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, newly introduced in 2024, the Golden Globe went to WICKED.

In the TV series section, THE BEAR entered the race with 5 nominations, of which only Jeremy Allen White was able to win the award for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical Series. The big winner was SHŌGUN - nominated 4 times and won 4 times, for Best Drama Series, Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai as Best Actor and Actress and Tadanobu Asano as Best Supporting Actor.

In the miniseries, BABY REINDEER won the race. Colin Farrell was awarded (quite rightfully, in our opinion) as Best Actor in THE PENGUIN. Best Actress went to Jodie Foster for the anthology series TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY.

03.01.2025 • WALLACE & GROMIT: VENGEANCE MOST FOWL
A full 20 years after their only feature-length film and 17 years after the last short film of the series (not counting the »Shaun the Sheep« spin-offs, which have arguably become more famous than the original franchise), the clumsy tinkerer Wallace and his anthropomorphic, hyper-intelligent Beagle Gromit finally make their return today! The BBC has teamed up with Netflix to produce the second feature film in the beloved stop-motion clay animation series.

In their latest adventure »Wallace & Gromit – Vengeance Most Fowl«, Wallace invents a motorized garden gnome named Norbot, programmed as a universal household assistant capable of performing all sorts of tasks. His brilliant creation is intended to make life easier for the neighbors while earning Wallace a little extra money. However, the project catches the attention of an old nemesis: Feathers McGraw, the cunning penguin from the classic 1993 short »The Wrong Trousers«. After years spent in the zoo – his "prison" – Feathers is bent on revenge. When he secretly reprograms Norbot, the once helpful assistant becomes an agent of chaos, and a series of mysterious thefts unsettles the neighborhood.

»Wallace & Gromit – Vengeance Most Fowl« has delighted critics and fans alike. The blend of nostalgic charm and modern techniques — Aardman has subtly incorporated CGI to enhance the classic stop-motion experience — has been widely praised. The humorous story, meticulous animation, and impeccable timing of the characters make the film a true highlight. The trailer already promises an over-the-top, hilariously entertaining adventure:

We’re thrilled to finally join Wallace and Gromit on their latest escapade. The film premiered on December 25, 2024, on BBC One and was a resounding success, becoming the second most-watched UK broadcast since 2022 and receiving a pounding 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. Starting today, January 3, 2025, the film is also available internationally on Netflix — perfect for a cozy movie night! Wallace and Gromit are back — and they’ve lost none of their unique charm. A must-watch for fans and newcomers alike!
02.01.2025 • PRODUCT OF THE MONTH JANUARY 2025
There are scenes from movies that will always be remembered. This undoubtedly also includes the opening scene from »The Godfather«. Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone listens to the worries and hardships of family friends in his darkened office. His gray cat has taken a seat on his lap to receive caresses from the influential man. Even if you watch the scene without sound, you can hardly escape the magic of Brando. His facial expressions and gestures have an awe-inspiring effect and give the viewer the feeling of sharing the room with a demigod who only needs to snap his finger to send unpleasant clientele to their deaths. If you ever doubt the magic of cinema, then you only have to treat yourself to this scene for a few minutes to restore your faith.

Of course, as friends of great cinematic art, we couldn't help but declare the 1/10 Don Vito Corleone Deluxe Art Scale Statue from Iron Studios as our 💥 Product of the Month 💥 in January 2025. The Brazilians once again did great work on this fine piece of art: thanks to numerous details, the statue perfectly captures the atmosphere of the film and especially of the opening scene. Starting with the opulent base and the majestic colonial desk, to the numerous utensils draped on top. This statue is a bow to Coppola's masterpiece from 1972.
02.01.2025 • NOSFERATU
The year 2025 begins for us with an absolute feast for the eyes on the big screen, because tonight, »Nosferatu« opens in cinemas!

When we look for attributes to describe Robert Eggers' works, the first thing that comes to mind is "attention to detail". His films, from »The Witch« to »The Northman«, are striving for authenticity through the smallest details in a way that historians are literally enraptured by. Eggers has an unmistakable style and manages to transport us to another time in every movie, with camera work that will make you fall to your knees. His latest work is no exception, as the trailer already makes clear:
https://youtu.be/nulvWqYUM8k

»Nosferatu« is a full 38 minutes longer than the original, so we can look forward to what Eggers will add to the world of Murnau's film. A Tomatometer critics score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes gives us hope for the first masterpiece of the year. The critics also agree on their assessment of Lily-Rose Depp. Johnny Depp's daughter, who plays Ellen Hutter, is said to have given the best performance of her career so far.

We can hardly wait to see the Vampyre on the big screen tonight!

26.12.2024 • ONE MORE GAME!

Once again, hundreds of indebted people accept the mysterious invitation to compete against each other in children's games. The prize is tempting - but the losers face death! The winner from season 1, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), is also returning and pursuing his own plan to settle his score with the Front Man.

Starting today on Netflix, we can see what this new season brings. We are very excited and will probably spend a large part of the second day of Christmas with »Squid Game«. The trailer is already letting our anticipation grow enormously:

By the way, we are also looking forward to see how Hot Toys will use their recently acquired »Squid Game« license. But for now enjoy the last series highlight of the outgoing year.

20.12.2024 • MARVEL'S WHAT IF...? - SEASON 3
After the first season of Marvel's animated series »What If…?« took many of us by surprise - not just with its creative and humorous one-off alternatives to our favorite heroes, but also with its lasting impact on the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse - the expectations for the third and last season are understandably high. The series didn’t stop at offering fun standalone stories; it also introduced an entirely new and impressive team of heroes with Captain Carter, Strange Supreme, The Watcher and their Guardians of the Multiverse. In Season 2, Kahhori, a powerful and completely original heroine was introduced to the MCU, who could play a significant role in the overarching Multiverse Saga.

Now, we eagerly await the third season, which could potentially provide the first hints at the much-anticipated Dr. Doom era of the MCU. The titles of the eight new episodes promise a thrilling and diverse mix: from obscure MCU side characters (»What If… Howard the Duck Got Hitched?«), to familiar faces from the current MCU phase (»What If… Agatha Went to Hollywood?« and »What If… The Red Guardian Stopped The Winter Soldier?«), and what appears to be a grand conclusion to the Guardians of the Multiverse storyline (»What If… The Watcher Disappeared?« and »What If… What If?«).

Visually, the series remains a standout: its modern, colorful animation style, which is clearly inspired by the cinematic look of the MCU films, perfectly matches the bold, multiversal adventures. Story-wise, »What If…?« continues to shine as one of the stronger entries in the Marvel-Disney+ lineup. The show’s sharp yet cozy, hot-chocolate humor makes it an ideal companion for the winter and holiday season.

We can’t wait to see what surprises the new season has in store and whether it will once again push the boundaries of the Multiverse. »What If…?« season 3 starts December 22nd on Disney+. Get a first taste now! Here’s the trailer for the third season:

19.12.2024 • SUPERMAN
Just a few minutes ago, DC dropped the first trailer for »Superman«:
https://youtu.be/uhUht6vAsMY

The film, originally titled »Superman Legacy«, marks the new start of the DC universe under the leadership of James Gunn, who also served as the director. What we already know is that, besides Superman himself (played by David Corenswet), we'll get to see several other superheroes and villains such as Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) - and, of course, Krypto!

The trailer has really made our day and we're super excited for the movie's release in July 2025.
19.12.2024 • MUFASA
Disney's »Mufasa« is hitting cinemas! The photorealistically animated work serves as a sequel to the 2019 remake of the animated classic »The Lion King«, which is now 30 years old. It deals with the backstory of Mufasa and his rise to become king of the Pride Land. Here's the trailer:
https://youtu.be/lMXh6vjiZrI

What stands out positively in the trailers compared to its predecessor are the much more expressive animals, which make the film look less like an animal documentary and more like an actual epic story. To what extent the film manages to create an interesting and believable origin story for the characters we all know remains to be seen. The trailers already reveal that the backstory of Mufasa and Scar is different from the ones that have been canonically accepted so far.

But if you prefer to stick with the original film anyway, we have a great collectible in store for you. The Lion King Deluxe Art Scale Statue by Iron Studios shows the iconic scene on Pride Rock from the opening scene of »The Lion King«.

Disney has also used the theatrical release of »Mufasa« as an opportunity to drum up publicity for another live-action remake. A new teaser for »Lilo & Stitch« shows the blue alien instead of the lion cub Simba in a parody of the scene mentioned above - a charming callback to the marketing of the original film, for which the studio had incorporated Stitch into well-known scenes from various Disney films and had him cause a lot of chaos. You can watch the teaser here:

Behind the 18th door is: a SuperGeek coupon worth 30 ¤ and an Alien Queen Micro Epic figure by Weta Workshop

18.12.2024 • OUR PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS OF 2024
The year 2024 is slowly nearing its end and as always it had to offer some highs (and lows) in cinemas and on streaming platforms. The S.P.A.C.E Crew would like to present their personal highlights regarding films, shows, gaming and of course collectibles:

SVEN:
As a new dad, my multimedia consumption was of course rather sparse this year. But I was able to see my movie highlight of the year twice on the big screen: DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE! The film was just so much fun - awesome :)! When it comes to TV series, I totally got stuck on THE BEAR because I was able to identify with it and found it fascinating and I really liked the third season. Simply fantastic! Of course, there were a lot of collectibles in 2024 that I just couldn't resist. A personal highlight for me was definitely the CAPTAIN FUTURE statue from the French manufacturer Fariboles - incredibly well made, strictly limited and a pure childhood flashback! It absolutey deserved the title of our Product of the Month in May this year!

MICK:
My favorite film of 2024 was definitely THE SUBSTANCE. Coralie Fargeat has mastered the art of telling stories through fabulously composed images, stylish but never an end in itself. The maxim "show, don't tell" is simply brilliantly implemented here. I really liked the sequels DUNE 2 and INSIDE OUT 2. I was positively surprised by BLINK TWICE and THE FIRST OMEN. The biggest disappointment among the films for me was JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX. As for the series, I was completely enchanted by SHŌGUN. The series probably also played a part in my traveling to Japan in May. Honorable mentions go to FALLOUT, THE PENGUIN, SILO and DARK MATTER. My biggest disappointment was THE ACOLYTE. My favorite collectible this year is the Luxury Edition of Kaustic and Infinite's DRACULA & VAN HELSING from HORROR OF DRACULA - Lee and Cushing, each equipped with three heads and the right props, make photographing the figures a pleasure.

JOANNA:
My personal cinematic highlight was DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE. Unlike the second part, the third (in combination with Logan) was able to really thrill me. As an Avatar fan I can also recommend the live-action series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, even if the story construction and humor couldn't reach the original. Nevertheless, the show is really fun and I'm excited for the second season. Among the collectibles, I especially liked the CIRI BISHOUJO PVC statue by Kotobukiya.

DANIEL:
THE SUBSTANCE was the best film of 2024 for me. Due to the plot and the feuilletonistic reception, I was expecting a socially critical film that would just deal a bit with the topic of unrealistic beauty ideals. Of course, this takes place, but the film offers a degree of grotesque escalation, that left me with my jaw dropped. I strongly recommend you watch this movie ;)! Season 12 of AMERICAN HORROR STORY was also (mostly) worth watching. Kim Kardashian in the cast caused discussions in advance, but in the end it must be stated that she was a total win for the season. Of all the wonderful collectibles, THE GHOST OF JACOB MARLEY - HAUNTED BLUE from the Figura Obscura series by Four Horsemen impressed me the most. Jacob's face, distorted by anger and pain, in connection with the multitude of chains and locks, was able to grip me emotionally!

TOBI:
I have to confess, I didn't really go to the cinema this year, so my selection is limited to anime. There's quite a few of them, though, like RE:ZERO - STARTING LIFE IN ANOTHER WORLD, MUSHOKU TENSEI Staffel 2, DEMON SLAYER - HASHIRA TRAINING ARC and SEIREI GENSOUKI: SPIRIT CHRONICLES. When it comes to gaming, my absolute highlight was BLACK MYTH: WUKONG. I waited a long time for this game and it was totally worth it. Lots of collectibles have found their place in my home this year :). If I had to pick a favorite, I would probably choose the PENGUIN Premium Format Figure by Sideshow.

TIM:
For my first review as part of the S.P.A.C.E. family, the series ARCANE definitely ranks among the top candidates. It sets new standards in animation design and demonstrates what should be the benchmark for storytelling and worldbuilding in the year 2024. Other series that hold top positions among the 20+ I’ve watched include SHŌGUN, FALLOUT, THE PENGUIN, THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY und DUNE PROPHECY - all highly recommended! My cinematic highlight is definitely CONCLAVE, a political thriller masterpiece. INDIANA JONES AND THE GREAT CIRCLE is a fantastic game that fits beautifully alongside the first three films in the series. My favorite collectible of the year is the PENGUIN Premium Format Figure by Sideshow, because it was the first statue I got to work with more intensively as a new team member.

EVA:
My absolute cinematic highlight of the year was the musical adaptation WICKED. The dynamic between the two main characters Elphaba and Glinda, the humor and of course the wonderful soundtrack, that I've been listening to non-stop for weeks, completely enamored me and have raised this film to my number 1 spot. The strong competitors were THE WILD ROBOT, a really touching story and my animation highlight of the year and BLINK TWICE, a great thriller and successful directorial debut for Zoë Kravitz. Among the shows I watched, the second season of SHRINKING was able to really excite me, the last episode of which will be released next week. The characters are so loveable, especially the roles of Jessica Williams, Harrison Ford and Jason Segel. When it comes to collectibles, the gorgeous ALEXSTRASZA statue by Blizzard was definitely memorable for me with its detailled base.

What were your highlights this year?
17.12.2024 • THE S.P.A.C.E ADVENT CALENDAR 2024 - DOOR 17
Today we are opening door no. 17 of the S.P.A.C.E Advent calendar 🎅🎁!

Behind the 17th door is: a Doctor Strange D-Stage mini-diorama from »Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness« by Beast Kingdom

The winner is: Florian

Congratulations 🥳! We will contact you via email.
17.12.2024 • TWO BRANCHES - ONE TREE
The pre-Christmas season will not only be sweetened with cookies and punch, but also with some trailers. For example from Sony Pictures, who dropped the first preview on »Karate Kid: Legends« today. And it looks really good, as we think:
https://youtu.be/uPzOyzsnmio

Jackie Chan as Mr. Han and Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso are back in the cast. However, the young kung fu prodigy Li Fong (played by Ben Wang) already impresses a lot in the trailer, so the wait until the release at the end of May 2025 feels damn long. We're looking forward to it!
Show 81 to 100 (of in total 1329 news)
