Did you miss the cinema as much as we did? For this we will be remunerated royally this month, because after all the Corona-related postponements, one theatrical highlight is now chasing the other. So today, the eagerly awaited »Free Guy« starts, starring Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer and Taika Waititi.

Already the trailers made us want to see the flick, which will not only be a festival for gamers. As always, Reynolds burned off a veritable firework of funny clips in his social media channels in advance. All his promo appearances in talk shows drove our expectation thermometer to the limit and the film also got a fresh score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes in the reviews score well.

August 11, 2021 will mark another milestone in the history of the MCU! The animated series „What if...?“ starts on Disney+ today - and it raises a number of questions, such as "what exactly is that?", "is the series part of the MCU" or "what if..." 😇.

The watcher Uatu, a mystical and all-seeing being, tells us of events from different universes of the Marvel cosmos. So one of our initial questions has already been clarified: yes, the series is part of the MCU. It is not only included there, but also has an impact on future events.

Let's imagine what if Peggy Carter got the super serum instead of Steve Rogers? Or what if Tony Stark and other Avengers candidates had been knocked out before the union?

This and much more „what if...?“ approaches make us really excited about tonight! Because one question changes everything...

The S.P.A.C.E Postcard Collection was enriched for August once more with a wonderful goofy and this time especially nostalgic design! It comes from the creativ source of Marco who you can follow on Instagram under @stan_qbrick.

Animal from the Muppet Show was raging around in Marco's little kitchen and obviously failed miserably while trying to prepare himself a cereal breakfast... Oh oh - the total escalation is near 😲!

After the drama about James Gunn and his temporary kick out from Disney / Marvel, Warner Bros. grabbed the director and gave him leeway in the implementation of »The Suicide Squad«. So Gunn rummaged through the extensive DC archive for the most bizarre characters and packed them all into the new edition of the 2016, unfortunately heavily criticized blockbuster »Suicide Squad« by David Ayer.

Of course one or the other fan favorite is still on board, especially Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Let's face it, what would a Suicide Squad be without her?

Perhaps the saying “made a virtue out of necessity” fits here, because apparently it will be a brilliant and hopefully successful change of scenery for James Gunn at the box office. In any case, allow him to do so!

We are looking forward to marveling at the squad at the movies from today - especially in view of the first very positive feedbacks!

If you follow our news carefully, you might still remember our reports from August 2020 about the "closure" of the »DC Direct« branch (let's call it the in-house collectibles forge) within WARNER BROS. Group. For all DC fans and especially collectors of these - as we always think - really great collectibles, this was sobering and really sad news...

Almost exactly one year later, however, the wonderful and very promising news comes - from none other than Todd McFarlane: McFarlane Toys will continue DC Direct! You are reading that right: McFarlane has signed a license deal with DC or WBCP and will soon start producing figures, busts and statues. Well, if that doesn't sound AWESOME? Above all, it is a sensible extension to the very successful »DC Multiverse« figure line by McFarlane.

We are really happy about these great news - and our very own »DC Bombshells« collection is already looking forward to growth ;)!

It's not much - a first frame and... a launch date!

Via the Twitter account of the Prime Video »The Lord of the Rings« series, finally a first visual appetizer on this highly anticipated project was published - along with a press release.

On top of that, we actually got an official release date of the show: September 2, 2022! That's almost exactly 13 months from now. Feels like eternity... but you can perfectly use this time very well to re-watch ALL Peter Jackson's works and, ideally, to read ALL books including the Silmarillion ;). We're looking forward to the series like crazy!

With its »Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles« license, the top dog in the action-figure sector, NECA, has apparently found its own personal stick horse (or "stick turtle", in this case). When looking for our next product of the month, it was very quickly clear to us based on the last large incoming shipment that we would choose the ULTIMATE KRANG'S ANDROID BODY from the TMNT range!

As usual, the 23cm body comes in a NECA-typical folding box. Various accessories (replacement weapons like in the cartoons, towel and soap from the shower scene, etc.) should not be missing either - and the Baby Shredder rounds off the package of easter eggs perfectly. The love for the details that NECA is constantly showing is really great! Of course, the upper half of the body can be removed so that Krang also fits in :).

We think it's amazing that NECA is expanding their TMNT line at full speed. For the SDCC AT HOME, there were tons of new announcements again, so that continually supplies for all fans of the iconic turtles will also come in over the next months...

Comic Con is definately always a date for trailer premiers - of course also at this year's virtual Comic Con @ Home. The majority of the outlook were not blockbusters, but also home content of streaming- and TV series.

In addition to the trailer for the final »The Walking Dead« season and first look scenes from the sequels »Fear The Walking Dead« and »The Walking Dead: World Beyond«, there was a first trailer for »Day of the Dead« from a new SYFY series that clearly refers to George A. Romero. With so many zombies, it seems almost refreshing that the »Army of the Dead« prequel »Army of Thiefs« with Matthias Schweighöfer gets along almost entirely without the undead.

There was also a trailer for the 6th season of »DC'c Legends of Tomorrow«, as well as teasers for the final season of »Lucifer« and for the 13th season of »Doctor Who«.

The preview »Dexter: New Blood« really makes you want to see the return of the serial killer with a codex. And we are definitely curious about the series debut of »Chucky«..

For fans of animation, the trailer for »Blade Runner: Black Lotus« is a promising kick-off. Also worth a visit is »Ultra City Smiths« - a crime noir musical with puppets. What a wonderfully weird contrast.

Since we already had to record our round-up on Saturday, we naturally missed a few last-minute tidbits for the show. But we don't want to withhold these from you...

SIDESHOW has revealed a beautiful »Huntress« Premium Format Figure in their fourth booth set-up. She turned out really great and would look perfect next to your PF Black Canary or Poison Ivy. In addition, two new wrestling statues from PCS were presented, namely »Hulk Hogan« and »Macho Man - Randy Savage«. They are also really impressive. Also from PCS - and almost even more astonishing - was the premiere of the new »Grimlock« statue. Housebreaker! However, the most impressive and heartwarming reveal for us came from New Zealand. The talented artists from the WETA WORKSHOP really blew us away with their next LOTR Masters Collection statue »Escape off the Road«. Simply breathtaking! Of course, the brand-new »Sauron« statue in the classic 1:6 scale is also an eye-catcher. The novelties of the Weta Mini Epics line are sweet as sugar, with the first two characters from »The Dark Crystal«, Eleven and the Demogorgon from »Stranger Things« and the first three figures from Jim Henson's »Labyrinth« - magical!

MOTU fans, today is the day... TODAY, finally the highly anticipated series »Masters of the Universe Revelation« by showrunner Kevin Smith starts on NETFLIX!

Toby and Sven watched the first episode live in front of the camera while filming our new ABGESPACED episode. Without spoiling too much, we can tell you: they will keep watching 🤓!

The wonderful NETFLIX documentary series »The Movies that made us« is going into the second round!

Even if the teaser has apparently only been found in the NETFLIX app so far and the announcement has not made too big waves yet, the four films for season 2 should reason enough for you to mark July 23rd in the calendar: Pretty Woman, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future and Forrest Gump!

Memories coming back... We are really looking forward to it! And what about you?

The term "cult film" is often used in a somewhat inflationary manner. But if there is a movie that deserves this honorary title, it surely is »The Big Lebowski« by the Coen brothers. And what a parade role for Jeff Bridges, who as Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski became a film icon and an epitome to nonchalance.

Sideshow Collectibles now presents him as a magnificent sixth scale figure in his classic outfit, of course with removable sunglasses, a bowling ball and his signature drink.

We think this has to be celebrated properly - preferably with the film and some glasses of White Russian... and then we're off to bowling!

Two days ago, NETFLIX published a first, very atmospheric teaser on season 2 of »The Witcher«. Doesn't that makes you want to dive back into the medieval fantasy world? But we have to wait until December 17th...

Do you remember those big buildings, where the parking lot smells of popcorn and you - and a bunch of ohter people - in a very large, darkened room, on a huge screen with cracking sound, lounging in a comfortable armchair, with a lot of unhealthy nibbles and cola... watching a movie? This place is called CINEMA - and we are able to go there again since July 1st!

In order to celebrate the end of our absence from the cinema, we put together a full watchlist for July and today we want to share three titles that we are very looking forward to with you:

After BLACK WIDOW fell victim to the corona pandemic as one of the first blockbusters last year, the story about Natasha Romanoff finally starts in German cinemas today! Although, not in all of them, because the multiplex-cinema chain »Kinopolis« is boycotting it due to the release on Disney+ just one day later. For every MCU fan, »Black Widow« is of course a must-see. It's great that Scarlett Johansson finally got her solo performance.

NOBODY with Bob Odenkirk (Better call Saul) scored points with critics and viewers alike, and the trailer also makes you want more of the action flicker, which started on July 1st.

At the end of the month, OLD, the new work by M. Night Shyamalan, will start. The master of twist endings now seems to have finally left his form depth behind. The trailer really made us curious. The start date is July 29th.

Folks - have fun in the... C I N E M A !

The two Italian manufacturers »Kaustic Plastik« and »Infinite Statue« present their third coup of collaboration - and that's none other than the "Duke" himself. After the two studios have already set a monument to an icon of the Italo-fun-beating-up-western with Bud Spencer, they are now turning to the western legend par excellence: John Wayne. The character is based on Wayne's appearance as grumpy Marshal Rooster Cogburn in Henry Hathaway's 1969 western classic »True Grit«.

Compliments to the artists - a great job in all departments, from the accurate modeling of the head sculpt to a great paint job and the film-authentic representation of the outfit and props.

We look forward to further results of the fruitful collaboration between Infinite Statue and Kaustic Plastik. Of course, we would like to see Terence Hill to complete the popular beating duo. In the western genre we speculate a little on Django because Infinite has a Franco Nero license. If we look at the Old & Rare line from Infinite, we get really jittery. A lot of Hollywood icons from the golden age are already gathered there. Wouldn't Bogard & Bergman from Casablanca be fantastic 1/6 figures?
