07.01.2020 • GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS 2020
On Sunday, the 77th GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS were presented in Los Angeles. The trophy is the most important harbinger of the Oscars, which will be awarded on February 10th. Winner of the evening was the World War film »1917« - it was honoured as best film drama, as well as Sam Mendes for best director. On the other hand, »Once Upon a Time in Hollywood« won three awards - best comedy, best screenplay (Quentin Tarantino) and Brad Pitt as best supporting actor.
Joaquin Phoenix deservedly received the award for best actor in a film drama for his performance as Joker - »Joker« was also honored for the best score. »The Irishman« was surprisingly left completely blank. The big winners among the series were »Chernobyl«, »Succession« and »Fleabag«.

Of course we're kicking off the new year with a new product of the month - and it's a creepy one this time... The JASON VOORHEES Deluxe Art Scale Statue in 1:10 scale by the Brasilian manufacturer »Iron Studios« really impressed us a lot and rightly so became our highlight in January!
The South-Americans are meanwhile holding a large range of licenses and are delivering really great collectibles. After pointing out the classy Superman last year, one of the most iconic slashers is following up now.
Besides the deluxe version, which contains a way more complex base aswell as a second, exchangeable head and an additional, interchangeable left arm with the head of a victim, there is also a regular variant of Jason. Here you will get a more simple base, the normal arm (without the cut-off head in his hand) and Jason's head with the hockey mask in front of his ugly face. Both versions are currently still in stock and ready to ship from our warehouse.

To celebrate the international Ghostbusters Day, Sony Pictures this week released a look behind the scenes of the shooting of »Ghostbusters: Afterlife«.
In addition to a foretaste of new footage, the clip offers a heartwarming impression of director Jason Reitman and his relationship with his father and producer Ivan Reitman. The two remember the franchise and look back at the first Ghostbusters, from the year 1984.
It's really great to see that everything stays in the family and how the "Proton Pack is passed on"... This increases our anticipation for the film even more :). Let's hope that Ghostbusters will finally hit cinemas in November.

Our Marvel fans of the 90s might have already been looking forward to this: the continuation of »X-Men: The Animated Series«. That sounds very nostalgic! As of today, you can stream the revival with the title »X-Men '97« on Disney+. But the series is also worth watching for the people, who don't know the animated universe of X-Men yet. The trailer shows you the mutants in full action:

»X-Men '97« starts, where the other series ended. The X-Men lost their leader Charles Xavier. But his dream for mutants and humans to live together in harmony shouldn't die with him. Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm and the others will make sure of that - if it weren't for Magneto, who suddenly claims that Xavier bequeathed him everything he had built during his lifetime. However, an even bigger threat appears, which the X-Men have to fight first.
But it's not just the world of the mutants that's tumultuous. Beau DeMayo, the brains behind the show, made headlines recently. Just weeks before the first season's premiere and after he had already finished his writing for season 2, he was fired by Marvel. No official reason was given to the public. We'll have to wait to see the effects of that on the show's future because season 2 is currently in production.
But for now, we are really excited to see how the original series' story will be continued!
